Lets Go 2 Morocco - Sustainable Responsible Tourism and Community Projects in the heart of rural Morocco

© 2015 -2019 by Karima Rebecca Powell.

Meet Karima

Hello, welcome, thank you for visiting my website. You will find it interesting, informative and useful, and, like Morocco, colourful and easy to get around.

This is my story and these are my experiences, along with my wish to share it with you. I´m living my dream, in a rural Amazigh (Berber) village near Marrakech. Life is uncomplicated, the landscape is incredible, the neighbours are lovely, food is fresh and local and everything is connected. I spend much of my time discovering new places, walking new paths and marking out routes to explore. With such diversity between mountains, deserts, coasts and valleys, I have a vast awesome playground which never ceases to amaze me as it changes with light and season. Like my life, this website is a living and evolving entity as I experience more things to share with you.

In these pages, you can discover the places I have been and why I recommend you come and see them, the awesome trekking there is here, the courses and hands on retreats I have put together and facilitate, loads of info and helpful tips for travellers as well as great posts in my slowly growing blogs. Join us for private tours.

If you want to know the what, when, where, why and how of my story... check put my blogs both on this website and on WordPress.

Sahara Desert Courses in Morocco

I am very excited to be able facilitate these exclusive courses in Morocco.

Next one is in November...

Picture yourself if you will, on a 4x4 adventure with your friends. You are in the Moroccan Sahara, it is late in the afternoon, you break down... What do you have?? Do you know how much water you have or where or how to get some?? Do you have food? Do you know how to find some? Do you have any shelter? Would you know how to make one? Are you safe from animals? Can you navigate? Can you build a fire, to cook, keep warm and be safe? Would you like to learn these and other skills??

Join us on one of our courses in the Sahara with a group of like minded people for a week of discovery, immersed in nature, with adventure, sun, great food and new skills. Small groups. For more info follow these links.

Treks and Hikes in Morocco

Your Epic Trekking Adventure Holidays starts here…

The Atlas Mountains rise from the Atlantic Ocean and stretch all the way to the Moroccan Algerian border. At its highest point is Mount Toubkal at 4167metres: a popular trekking peak most of the year round. These mountain ranges dominate the skyline across much of the central parts of the country, while to the south, the Saghro; rising out of the rocky desert, is the birthplace of some of the oldest tribes of Imazhigen people: the indigenous inhabitants of Morocco; the Ait Atta nomadic tribes.

Morocco is for all lovers of the outdoors, for anyone who would like to experience the spectacular diversity that the mountains and valleys offer the adventurer.

Our treks and hikes are from 1 day to 2 or even 3 weeks for the die-hards.

Morocco Tours and treks are for all seasons, for all levels, for groups, families, couples, individuals, team-building, charity events, scout troops and serious expedition groups.

While you will find many options in our pages, there are others; we are happy to customise your trek according to your requirements. We also offer combined treks; the most popular being High Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert.

We offer treks that are exclusive to Lets Go 2 Morocco as well as the better know routes.

All our guides and teams are drawn from the local communities, people that were born in the region and know the nuances of the mountains. Not only does this provide you with the most experienced, friendly and knowledgeable guides, it also supports many families and villages, enabling children to gain an education. We have community projects running in remote villages across both mountains and desert regions. Sustainable responsible tourism is vital to the stability of the culture and economy of these legendary people.

There is so much to see and do in this country I would fill too many pages if I start to write about it here. I have travelled a lot of routes, visited many places and have many to recommend. I design tours for people based on their requirements and a few basic nuggets of information. If you are solo or a group of twenty, it´s what I do, and I enjoy each new challenge. I work with a hand-picked group of professionals who strive to give excellent service in their respective fields of expertise. I use accommodations that I have personally visited (or my colleagues have), often stayed in and eaten in, so I know what you can expect in all areas. A hotel can look amazing on their website, but in reality can be a different story, believe me I have had some strange surprises. I would say star ratings vary from 2 to 4, I generally don´t use big luxury accommodations as they are not often local family run with staff from the locality that go that extra mile to see you smile. That being said, some of the 5* hotels are pretty amazing.

So, whatever your ideas, plans, thoughts, or dreams, send me an email and Lets Go 2 Morocco!!! It is helpful to have your travel dates and airport arrival and departure locations, number of travellers and type of accommodation.

Rural Cooking

I have researched and selected a few venues that suit the type of classes I would like to offer and in the locations that give a super day out as well.

The classes are as much about the experience and connection with the food, its sources and the people who grow it as actually learning to cook the dishes. I guess it´s a holistic approach to cooking.

Community Projects

In the High Atlas Mountains, many villages are helped by tourism, there are many more that are off the beaten track and benefit very little or not at all. These are the ones I focus on. I look for ways to provide sustainable long lasting community projects that have a far reaching impact but without damaging the delicate indigenous culture and lifestyle. Planting sapling trees does that as it provides work, fruits, wood and helps stop erosion.

Archaeology

Archaeological and Geological Tours

We have created a unique opportunity for you to see Morocco from a different angle.

Sustainable tourism is very important to us; therefore an authentic experience is guaranteed.
Discover Ancient Civilisations, Ksours (castles), Kasbahs (fortresses), Fossils and Rock Art!

10 INCREDIBLE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT MOROCCO

There are of course many more reasons than 10. This video shows you just how diverse the landscape of Morocco is. We design private tours around the country for couples, families and groups using 4x4´s and minibuses and we use mules and camels for treks. Morocco Tours can also include the Imperial Cities, the coastal medinas, desert towns and villages, mountain villages and local market towns. Whatever you have in mind, just send over an email with your outline idea and we can build from there to formulate an awesome itinerary.

This trip was a life-changer in the most positive way. Shukran always, ya Karima. :)!!!

Family Trekking

Karima is very much in her element, expertise, and authenticity as she organized and hosted this trek up Tizi n’Tamatert pass from Imlil, having been living that life herself for years. I felt completely at ease and confident in having her shape this unforgettable life experience for us.

Life Changing

I cannot recommend Karima enough. You really do get the personal touch and nothing is too much trouble.

I was very anxious about travelling alone but I spent so much time laughing and smiling that it didn't cross my mind once during my trip.
