8 Day Tour of South Morocco

This is one of our fantastic 8 day tours around the South of Morocco.

Day 1; Arrival in Marrakech Menara Airport. One of our team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Dinner in the old medina.

Day 2; Day trip to the charming coastal medina of Essaouira. Back to Marrakech in the evening or overnight in Essaouira. This blue and white medina has its history steeped in piracy, slave trading, art, music and gastronomy. Shopping here is a delight, laid back and hastle free. Visit the fishing port, the promenade and La Skala, take a walk on its vast beach, eat delicious seafood and fish and wander the streets and galleries.

Day 3; Drive up into the High Atlas mountains for a day with the Amazigh people. A short hike up into a mountain village for lunch with incredible views. After lunch, a short walk back to the transport or a slightly longer one up to your accommodation. Les Jardins du Toubkal. Evening entertainment with local musicians. (this is exclusive to us).

Day 4; Imlil to Agdz in the Draa Valley crossing over the High Atlas Mountains via the pass of Tizi n´Tichka. This is a switchback ride through some amazing panoramic scenery with Berber villages dotting the hillsides. Overnight in Agdz.

Day 5; Agdz to the Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi. Discover another face of the south of Morocco as you cross vast landscapes from the ancient kasbahs of the Draa Valley and its extensive date palm groves to reach the golden dunes of the Sahara. Meet your camel team and cross the dunes on these ships of the desert to reach your nomadic camp. Dinner and music around the campfire with a blanket of stars to gaze at.

Day 6; Merzouga to Dades Gorge. Discover the desert towns and oases of this part of the south. Stop in Rissani to sample the famous Medfouna local pizza and the colourful souk. Visit one of the fossil and mineral museums and see real life dinosaur bones. Wander along the crystal clear waters of the river that carved its way through the mountains to form the 300 metre high Todra Gorge. Following the Dades Valley, you travel up into the gorge where you overnight in a local guesthouse. Dar Essyaha with dinner and breakfast.

Day 7; Dades Gorge to Marrakech. After breakfast, a stop for photos; this gorge has unique rock formations that are called fat monkey fingers and some fine examples of ancient kasbahs. Following the Dades Valley we drive through the rose valley which is where the fragrant Damascus roses are cultivated and harvested for the precious oil, you emerge into the arid lands before the palm grove of Skoura. Next stop is the cinema capital of Ouarzazate, location of many movies and at the UNESCO site of Ksar Ait Benhaddou, we stop for a visit and lunch break. In the afternoon, we take the High Atlas route along the Ounila Valley back to Marrakech where you will stay in a lovely riad in the heart of the medina. Riad Africa.
