Rewilding Bushcraft|High Atlas Course
Rewilding Bushcraft in Morocco Courses
Since I was young I have a growing interest in wild plants and herbs, stuff that grows in hedgerows and woodlands, on mountainsides and riverbanks. My children often used to say to me "Mum what are you looking at?" but would happily taste the tea or soup or salad, whatever I cooked up with my foraged goodies.
My curiosity brought me into contact last year with an English gentleman now living in southern Spain who runs rewilding and bushcraft courses from his location. Through many conversations, meetings and reconnaissance we are now offering courses in Morocco, primarily in a desert location and also in the High Atlas Mountains. I am very excited to be able to facilitate these amazing courses in bush craft, survival skills, rewilding and reconnecting. Neil Hill is an anthropologist, wildlife biologist and wilderness instructor who founded Almeria Bushcraft to share his passion of the natural world with people.

Thank you for your understanding.
Please note: this is not a boot camp, we are all light hearted people, passionate about our work and happiest when sharing our knowledge and skills. We know that for some this may be their annual holiday or perhaps their only chance to visit Africa, perhaps it will be the catalyst that brings you back again and again. We all need fun and laughter in our lives: this will be no exception.
This 4 day trek is suitable for families, however the treks are moderate, therefore a certain level of fitness is required as each day has 5 - 7 hours of trekking plus varying amounts of ascents and descents. Children over 12 are very welcome.
Our High Atlas weeks are for families, groups, associations, outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, venture scouts, scouts groups, walking clubs, foragers, corporate team building, hikers and anyone that wants to spend 7 days exploring with us.
On a serious note: regardless of your personal level of skills and experience, please never second guess the mountain guides, they grew up in these valleys, understand the nuances of the weather, can spot altitude sickness, know alternative routes when needed, know where there is water and when there is phone coverage. Their knowledge, expertise and assistance is vital and immeasurable. Always respect them.
On a personal note: make sure you drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water a day on a trek, the altitude and thin air can easily lead to dehydration. The UV rays are also much stronger, therefore cover up as much as possible, wear a hat and a minimum of factor 30 sunscreen and use a good quality lip balm.
Footcare is of the utmost importance: make sure you carry blister prevention and treatment supplies, at the first pinch, stop and take action. Change socks at lunch time or more often if you are prone to sweaty feet. At the end of the trek each day, change out of your sweaty clothes and put on flip-flops or similar. If you feel unwell… tell us.
There is a Facebook events page: where questions can be posted, also a Google Hangouts video conference can be organised for people who prefer.
