Horse Riding by the Lake
There are many ways to see Morocco and one of the more pleasing ways is on horseback. Just near to Lake Lalla Takerkoust there is a stables run by the lovely Sophie who has been running her riding business in Marrakech for 16 years. She has a place in the Palmerie too and offers dressage, a riding school and treks from there. Here at the lake there are options for a half and a full days trekking in the most beautiful countryside. Attentive guides make sure you are safe and comfortable and your horses are happy. I visited the location down by the lake and met some of the well cared for horses, I was impressed with their appearance and surroundings. From beginners to experienced riders in small groups of 5 per guide, you can come and enjoy discovering the Berber villages built against the mountainsides overlooking the lake, or wander upriver and explore, absorb this unique authenticity and let nature sooth your stresses. This area is also close to the Agafay Desert, the rocky desert of Marrakech, so you have another option for a different landscape. Lunch is usually a picnic and of course there is always the welcome mint tea.
