Day Trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls
"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, one finds it attached to the rest of the world"
One of the most breath taking places in Morocco and one of the candidates for the seven wonders of nature. This is high on the list of the most enchanting waterfalls in North Africa. Falling short of the number one spot by only 25 feet, Ouzoud Falls is the second tallest waterfall in Africa. With three tiered 110 metre falls it is quite magnificent as it stands overlooking the Tanaghmeilt village in the Azilal region of Morocco.
Located in the Middle Atlas mountains in a Berber village about 150 km north east of Marrakech, these falls are ideally located for a day trip. The rare Barbary Monkeys can be seen in the trees and often come down to be fed by tourists (this is not something we encourage). This region is lush and full of fruit trees and olives. Restaurants hug the sides of the falls and walkways bring you down into the woodlands and hidden caves. Colourful rafts bring vibrant colour to the pool below the falls where you can swim if you wish. You can take a raft ride as an optional extra for just 20 dirhams per person; it goes very close to the base of the falls and you can take amazing photographs. An excellent excursion with a definite Wow factor!!!
The route takes you through the forested region of Azilal and we can include a diversion to see the birds of prey, huge vultures in their natural habitat and also to visit the impressive natural stone bridge near Demnate. This location is approximately two and a half hours drive from Marrakech. As with many of our trips this can be extended to 2 days with an overnight in the area and a different tour the following day to explore Ait Bougamez, known as the “happy valley”.
Price is per person based on 2 people with a private Guide, water in the car and lunch; soft drinks and tips are not included.
Price per person : €95. Price reduces with more people.
